Metal Free Dentistry

In the past, metal was used in dentistry with such things as fillings and other dental implants. At the time, this was the best available, but there are other options for modern clients. Patients now have a chance to use a more beautiful and practical alternative. Dentist now can use:

Metal-Free-1-1-300x188
  • White composite made of quartz
  • Glass
  • Resin
These new materials are proven not be harmful to the body.

There are many reasons why to not choose metal dental work.

  • The metal is often filled with mercury, a poison which can harm the client.
  • When metal is use in and around teeth, the metal expands and contracts with temperature change. This cracks and breaks the teeth.
  • The composite doesn’t change size and shape, so there isn’t damage to the teeth.
  • It is less expensive to use the composite because less material is used and the composite is less expensive.
  • Composite is cosmetic, the metal is a glaring intrusion while the white composite is matched to the shade of the client’s teeth.

Procedures Used In Metal Free Dentistry

When using composite for fillings, the result is a beautiful finish which is less expensive than metal.

Step 1: To make a composite filling, the decay and a small amount of the actual tooth is removed and then the composite the color of the tooth is applied.

Step 2: Porcelain can be used to create elegant crowns. The remaining tooth is shaped so a crown can be fitted onto it.

Step 3: An impression of the tooth and surrounding teeth is taken to insure an excellent fit. Because it will take around one or two weeks to create a permanent porcelain tooth, a temporary tooth is created for the client until the permanent one can be fitted in. Rather in the same way as crowns, bridges can be created to fill in missing teeth.

Step 4: The surrounding teeth are filed down and a bridge with three teeth are created.

Step 5: In the middle is the replacement of the missing tooth and on each side are the crowns which will fit over the remaining two teeth. This is then placed just like a crown, with no need for metal bridging.
